Veenendaal Classic 2023 – Veenendaal – Veenendaal : 175,8 km
The Veenendaal-Veenendaal Classic is a Dutch one-day race that first appeared on the annual cycling calendar back in 1985. Unlike other one-day races, this one takes place after the Spring Classics period. Traditionally it has taken place in August, but as of last year the race has been pushed forward to a new slot in May. While the date may have changed, the circular route around Veenendaal remains pretty much the same. This unique route leads riders through the hilly forests of De Utrechtse Heuvelrug and the endless fields that litter this part of the Netherlands. There are some hills to negotiate on the circuit, but they’re not overly tough and – as a result – we often see a bunch sprint decide the winner in Veenendaal.
