National Championships 2024 โ Belgium ๐ง๐ช โ Individual Time Trial WE – Binche – Binche : 19,3 km
The Belgian National Road Race Championship is a cycling race which decides who will become Belgian national champion for the year to come. The winners of each event are awarded with a symbolic cycling jersey, which is black, yellow and red, like the national flag. These colours can be worn by the rider at other road racing events to show their status as national champion. The champion’s stripes can be combined into a sponsored rider’s team kit design for this purpose.
Lotte Kopecky (SD Worx-Protime) smashed the elite women’s time trial to take the victory for a sixth consecutive year at the Belgian Road Championships.
โIt is always nice to renew the Belgian title,โ Kopecky told Wielerflits in a flash interview.
Kopecky, a multi-discipline road and track World Champion, covered the 19.3km course in a winning time of 25:57 in Binche, beating runner-up Marthe Goossens (AG Insurance-Soudal Team) by 43 seconds and third-placed Marion Norbert Riberolle (Fenix-Deceuninck Development Team) by 44 seconds.
โIt was a nice course in itself, with good road conditions. But it was also very difficult,” she said regarding the course.
“There were some difficult parts: headwind, slightly ascending. So yes, it was a very nice time trial course. You could make the biggest difference in the second part of the course. The first part was very fast, with a number of descending parts, which made it difficult to really gain time. But the second part was really the most difficult.โ
