GP Mungia – Memorial Agustin Sagasti 2024 🇪🇸 (1.13.2) MU23 – Mungia – Mungia : 132 km
There will be hardly any changes with respect to what is known in the previous editions of the Basque event, with a total of 137 kilometers divided into four laps to a 34-kilometer circuit, having to face in each of the turns the top of Mesa as the greatest difficulty.
Those prizes of the flying goals will be played in each of the three steps on the Mungia goal line, prior to the end (km 34.2; km 68.4 and km 102.6). On the other hand, the mountain will be located on that top of Mesa (3ª category-km 21; km 55.2; km 89.4 and km 123.6), which without having large slopes, the sum of the steps and the speed at which they are made, ends up selecting a lot of the platoon that arrives with options to shine on the last lap.
For the last time, the summit is crowned just 15 kilometers from the finish line, passing safely through the top some small outpost, although there will still be enough ground to be controlled, as is usual to happen. In order to surprise, already within the last 5 kilometers a couple of sloopes are also overcome that are perfect for throwing a last order to the sprinters.
Favorites XII GP Mungia – Agustín Sagasti Memorial
One more year, Mungia’s will bring us a nice fight between the powerful men who can have a good time with that top of Mesa and end up fighting for the victory at the sprint and the bravest cyclists, who will try to take advantage of the ramps of that climb to avoid that massive arrival and present themselves unaccompanied at the finish line.
Among the strongest men we are seeing in recent weeks will highlight the presence of Jan Castellon (Caja Rural-Alea), Samuel Fernández (Gomur-Cantabria Infinita) or Tommasso Bessega (Polti-Kometa), all of them protagonists in the newly finished Mountain Circuit. There will also be very fast cyclists who have a good time in the middle mountain, accustomed to the triumph, such as Haimar Etxeberria and Sergio Romeo (Finisher) or Owen Lightfoot (Vigo-Rías Baixas).
It will not be possible to underestimate the options that may present names such as those of Aitor Agirre (Laboral Kutxa), Iñaki Trujillo (Eiser-Hirumet), Unai Ramos and Pablo Carrascosa (Finisher), Víctor Castellano (Esetec-Ricardo Fuentes), Lucas Towers (Caja Rural-Alea), Marc Rubirola (Team MP Group), David Chamorro (Extremadura-Pebetero) or Mikel Castella (Essax-Grupo Arfran).
