GP Jean-Pierre Monseré 2023 – Ichtegem – Roeselare : 198,6 km
The Grote Prijs Jean-Pierre Monseré, or GP Monseré for short, is a one-day race that takes place annually in Roeselare, a city in the West Flanders province of Belgium. Named after famous Belgian Jean-Pierre “Jempi” Monseré – who tragically died aged 22 while holding the World Road Race title – the race first took place in 2012. Looking at the last few winners of this race it comes as no surprise to learn that many regard GP Monseré as a ‘Sprinters Classic’. The route around Roeselare, while flat, does feature several grippy sections that help characterise the race as semi-Classic however, like the Gitsberg and Lookhuisstraat – two of Flanders’ lesser-known cobbled climbs.
