GP Cantabria Deporte – Trofeo Villa de Noja 2024 🇪🇸 WE – Noja – Noja : 85,9 km
The Copa de España de Féminas Cofidis of road cycling has begun its journey today 2024 with the dispute in Noja of a G.P. Cantabria Sport – VIII Villa de Noja Women’s Cycling Trophy that has crowned Isabel Martín in the elite category (Eneicat-CMTeam-RBH Global). The Valladolid, third last year, has been the fastest in the sprint. In junior, Paula Ostiz has fulfilled the forecasts by taking the victory after a great exhibition. More than 400 athletes have competed today in the rain in the first round of the national competition.
The elite and U23 took the start at 12:30 p.m., having to face 85.9 km., with the top of San Mamés one more year as the main mountainous stumbling block. The race would be marked by the long ride of a brave Ariana Gilabert (Eneicat), who jumped from the peloton at kilometer 25 at the top of San Mamés to try the epic. The Catalan was neutralized with just under ten kilometers to go by a chasing group in which already on the finish line Isabel Martín showed herself as the strongest to win. The Valladolid woman asserted her speed peak ahead of Valeria Valgomen (Soltec) and Nuria Tauler (Santa Margalida). In this way, Martín is placed as the first leader of the Spanish Cup, while in the U23 category he commands the classification Valeria Valgomen.
“It’s a circuit that I like a lot, it’s well adapted to my characteristics. The team has done a very good job and I really wanted to finish the job this way. We have spent a total dog day. The Spanish Cup can be a goal and we will try to defend the lead as much as possible,” Isabel Martín said at the end of the race.
Cadet career
At 9:05 a.m. the test started for the cadets, which has had to face 32.8 kilometers over the surroundings of Noja. Maialen Narbona (Loiumat) has been the strongest cyclist in a bumpy arrival in which there was a fall of several runners. In second position ended Alejandra Neira (C.C. Cambre-Servicios Reunidos), while Elena Cuenca (Goenaga Yogurrak) finished in third place.
Junior and master’s career
The youths took over shortly after, with a start around 10:15 a.m. and with the uncertainty of checking if Paula Ostiz’s dominance in her journey as a cadet also extended to this first test of the Navarrese cyclist as a junior. Soon the Baqué cyclist dispelled any doubts, escaping alone around kilometer ten to ride throughout the solo test until completing the 60 kilometers of the event. Finally, Ostiz entered the finish line with an advantage of 2’40” over the Uruguayan Florencia Revetria (Université Politécnica Valencia), who jumped after Ostiz in the first instance, but who could not contact the first-year junior, although it was worth it to complete another outstanding career and be second in the finish line. In third position, Izaro Etxarri (Eskola Andoaingo), the best cyclist in the chasing group at 3’35”, closed the podium.
Among the masters, in master 30 Beatriz Gallego took the victory ahead of Tuxa Fernández-Coronado and Hanna Eloise Tamoudi. For her part, in master 40 Sonia Pato showed herself as the strongest ahead of Verónica Palazuelos and Montserrat Pereira.
The second round of the Cofidis Women’s Spanish Cup will be held on March 17 in Beasain, where the IV Igartza Sari Nagusia – Igartza Grand Prize will be played.
