Emakumeen Nafarroako 2021 WE – Zudaire – Lekunberri : 128,3 km
Emakumeen Nafarroako Klasikoa may be one of the youngest one-day races on the calendar but already it has seen two world-class riders etch their names onto its winners list. The race first took place in 2019 as a 1.2-ranked event, but it was soon upgraded to a 1.1-ranked event the following year after an incredibly successful debut edition. In 2020 the race was one of the first events back following the COVID-19-enforced racing hiatus and, as a result, it attracted most of the big names from the Women’s WorldTour. Since 2019, the race has followed a hilly route around the outskirts of Pamplona, the capital city of Spain’s northern Navarre region. The finish, however, is located in the small village of Lekunberri and falls just after two difficult climbs, the Zuarrarrate and the Mugiro. The large amount of climbing in this race makes it the preserve of the mountain goats and uphill specialists.
