42nd Chrono des Nations 2024 🇫🇷 (1.1) ITT WE – Les Herbiers – Les Herbiers : 27,23 km
Chrono des Nations – Les Herbiers Vendée is a single-day individual time trial road bicycle race held annually in October in Les Herbiers, Vendée, France. Since 2005, the race is organized as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour. It was originally called Chrono des Herbiers but in 2006 the race merged with the now defunct Grand Prix des Nations to create the currently called Chrono des Nations.
Grace Brown has capped off a sparkling season with a victory at the Chrono des Nations, her final race with FDJ-Suez before retiring from professional cycling.
“It couldn’t have been a better ending,” FDJ-Suez posted to Instagram following her victory in Les Herbiers.
Brown’s final race victory comes after the best season of her career, during which she secured the win at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, the gold medal in the individual time trial at the Olympic Games, and two world titles in the individual time trial and mixed relay team time trial at the World Championships.
At the Chrono des Nations, wearing her world champion’s skinsuit and gold aero helmet, Brown covered the undulating 27.23km course with a winning time of 35:26, averaging 46kph.
She beat her FDJ-Suez teammate and former under-23 time trial world champion Vittoria Guazzini by 51 seconds and former Olympic road race champion Anna Kiesenhofer (Roland) by 54 seconds.
