Tour de l’Avenir 2023 🇫🇷 – Stage 2 – Nozay – Chinon : 189 km
Tour de l’Avenir (English: Tour of the Future) is a French road bicycle racing stage race, which started in 1961 as a race similar to the Tour de France and over much of the same course but for amateurs and for semi-professionals known as independents. Since 2007 it is for riders aged 19 to 23, and is held part of the UCI Nations Cup. National teams take part in the race rather than trade teams.
Riley Pickrell (Canada) won the bunch sprint to take the stage 2 win at the Tour de l’Avenir. Fastest to the line in Chinon, Pickrell won the sprint ahead of Radoslaw Fratczak (Poland) and Rotem Tene (Israel).
Stage 1 winner and overnight leader Anders Foldager (Denmark) formed part of the day’s breakaway that did not succeed in to Chinon. He finished more than seven minutes behind the peloton, and Michał Pomorski (Poland) took over the race lead.
